Here's a 1997 letter from John Neal, owner of the Hallberg Rassy 31 "Mahina Tiare". John's 31 years and 238,000 miles of ocean sailing include six Cape Horn roundings, passages to Antarctica, and to Moffin Island 80 degrees north above Norway and Spitsbergen, as well as extensive cruising from Alaska to Australia. 2006 is John's 17th year of conducting sail-training voyages aboard "Mahina Tiare". Since 1976 he has conducted 123 Offshore Cruising Seminars for 7,500 sailors. "Log of the Mahina", his first book is a classic on ocean voyaging. In addition he is the author of the "Offshore Cruising Companion" and co-author of "Mahina Tiare, Pacific Passages".
